Get Affordable Health Care
Affordable health care for all Americans has gone from dream to reality. You now have options for health care insurance that fits your family’s budget.
If you live in Oregon, you can shop for health insurance in an online marketplace at OregonHealthcare.gov. OregonHealthcare is a free service that provides information on public and private health insurance plans. If you don’t qualify for public plans, which are the Oregon Health Plan and Healthy Kids, OregonHealthcare.gov allows you to compare insurance plans from private companies and find cost savings that help you afford the insurance. You then can apply for the plan you choose during specified enrollment periods.
If you qualify for a public health care plan, you may appy at any time during the year.

There is a different process for applying for health care benefits if you are a veteran or eligible for Medicare.
- Veterans access benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. To learn more, call 1.800.827.1000 or click here to visit the department's website.
- Click here to visit the federal government's website for Medicare. The website provides a range of information, including phone numbers you can call for individual advice by state.
Once you have health insurance, it’s important to your good health that you use it. Click here to view or download a brochure with advice for making the most of your health care plan.
Also, be sure to watch for information your plan will send you about re-enrolling, which you must do each year even if you want to keep the same plan.
