Wendy Serrano Joins the Home Forward Board of Commissioners

PORTLAND, Ore., March 8, 2016 --  Wendy Serrano, a Field Representative for Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer’s office, has been appointed to the board of commissioners.  She holds a City of Portland seat on the nine-member citizen commission.

Photo_of_Wendy_SerranoSerrano helps the Congressman’s office develop strong relationships in the business community and is an advocate for its constituents.  Bilingual and bicultural, Wendy advises the Congressman on local Latino issues that include immigration, international relations, and human rights.

“Home Forward provides far more than just housing.  This agency uses housing as a platform of opportunity to help people reach greater goals and economic independence; therefore, strengthening the fabric of our community.  I know firsthand the importance of stable housing in order to break the cycle of poverty.  I’m excited for the opportunity to serve this organization and to provide inclusive opportunities for the people we serve,” she said.

“Wendy is wonderful addition to our board.  She loves this community and we are truly excited about what her energy, experience, and background bring to Home Forward,” said Jim Smith, board chair.

Home Forward is governed by a nine-member commission.  The City of Portland, Multnomah County, and City of Gresham each appoint commissioners who in turn are approved by the Portland City Council.  One of the seats is reserved for someone who participates in a Home Forward housing program.
