Send Your Child to Free Summer Camp

If you live in a Home Forward apartment community or participate in the Section 8 program, your child has the opportunity to attend Camp Rosenbaum, a youth citizenship summer camp on the Oregon coast.  There is no cost to the campers or their families.

Camp Rosenbaum provides all of the traditional camp activities children love at the same time it promotes good citizenship.  Activities range from art and science projects to horseback riding, story telling around the campfire, fishing and swimming.  Individual and team awards are given to campers whose behavior displays the values of working together, caring for others, fairness, and loyalty, and campers attend classes designed to help them resist gang activity and drug use.

Each child receives a pair of athletic shoes, as well as camp clothing such as sweatshirts and t-shirts.  Bus transportation to and from the camp is provided.

The 2012 camp will be held July 22 - 27 at Camp Rilea near Warrenton.  Eligible campers must be between 9 1/2 and 11 years old.  Applications will be considered by housing program and in the order in which they are received.  The deadline for applications is May 7, 2012.

Camp Rosenbaum is made possible through a partnership between housing authorities throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington, the Oregon National Guard, the Portland Police Bureau, G.R.E.A.T., and the Police Activities League.
