Recruitment for Executive Director Begins

Home Forward has started the process of finding a replacement for Executive Director Steve Rudman.  Rudman announced in January that he was planning to leave the agency at the end of 2014 after more than 13 years of service.

The agency has hired Bob Murray and Associates to help with the search.  After listening to community partners and staff over the past month, the firm has launched active recruitment.

The recruitment will be open until July 11.  The search firm then will review applications and conduct initial screening interviews, narrowing the field to five or six applicants. The executive committee of Home Forward's board will interview these candidates and determine the smaller group (2-3) that advances to the second and final round.

In early August, a Selection Committee with representatives from Home Forward's jurisdictions, community partners, and staff, including the agency's two represented groups, AFSCME and the trades unions, will convene.  They will interview the second round candidates and provide an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses to the board, which will conduct final interviews and make a selection.

Members of the Selection Committee are:

David Widmark, Home Forward board chair
Dena Ford-Avery, Home Forward staff
Elisa Harrigan, Affordable Housing Initiative Program Officer, Meyer Memorial Trust
elyse Alexander, AFSCME representative, Home Forward staff
Josh Fuhrer, Community Development Director, City of Gresham
Katie Such, former Home Forward board and staff member
Kay Toran, Executive Director, Volunteers of America
Shannon Callahan, Chief of Staff, Commissioner Dan Saltzman’s Office, City of Portland
Trent Marsh, trades unions representative, Home Forward staff

Note:  the Multnomah County representative will be identified shortly.
