Anita Yap New Deputy Executive Director

August 24, 2011 -- Anita Yap, honored with the 2011 Distinguished Award for Oregon by the American Planning Association, will step into Home Forward's number two management position on August 31. As deputy executive director, she will report to executive director Steve Rudman.  selected for Home Forward's number two management position. Home Forward, the new name for the Housing Authority of Portland, is Oregon's largest provider of affordable housing.

Yap comes to Home Forward with a strong background in community development and planning.  Most recently she was the Community Development Director for the City of Damascus, where she was instrumental in helping establish a working government for Oregon's first new city in 22 years.  Before that, she held senior planning roles for the Lane Transit District, the Lane Council of Governments and the City of Bend.

"Anita's experience and skills will be invaluable as we look for new ways to align with partners to provide shelter and support for our neighbors in need," Rudman said.  "In addition, her volunteer work involves social equity issues and mirrors the values we embrace at Home Forward.

Yap chairs the Portland Multnomah Food Policy Council, co-chairs the United Way Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, is on the board of the Portland Rehabilitation Center, and is a member of the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon.
