Dekum Court Redevelopment

Plans for 200 new affordable rental homes in NE Portland are underway!  With funding from Metro's Affordable Housing Bond, 160 new affordable homes will be added to the redevelopment of an existing 40 homes at Dekum Court.  Construction will occur in two phases to ensure existing residents of Dekum Court will not need to be relocated.  The Phase 1 construction (at least 40 homes) will begin during Summer 2021 and completed by Fall 2022.  Phase 2 construction of the remaing homes will then begin and is scheduled to be ready for new residents by Fall 2024.



  • 200 affordable apartments total
  • 40 replacement homes for existing Dekum Court households
  • 160 new homes funded by Metro Affordable Housing bond will include
    • 65 affordable homes (40%) for people earning 30% of the median family income and lower
    • 95 affordable homes  (60%) for people earning 60% of the median family income and lower
    • At least 80 family homes (50%) with 2 or more bedrooms


  • Educational partnerships are under discussion to meet the needs of new families in the community, including a new Head Start facility.
  • In addition to the apartments, the development will feature a large community room and multiple outdoor play spaces for youth.
  • An active community engagment process, including a large Community Advisory Committee, is providing input into the physical design of the property, economic participation during construction, and on-going resident support programs.
