Home Forward to Sell St. Johns Woods Apartments to Vitus Group

January 16, 2013 -- Home Forward and Vitus Group announced today that Home Forward will sell its St. Johns Woods apartment complex in North Portland to Vitus Group, a Seattle-based affordable housing provider with apartment communities in 14 states.  Home Forward, the new name for the Housing Authority of Portland, is Oregon's largest affordable housing provider, with nearly 6,500 units of affordable housing in Multnomah County.

October 1, 2012 -- Individuals and families with limited incomes who need help paying their rent will be able to apply for the Section 8 rent assistance waiting list this November.  Home Forward, the agency that administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program in Multnomah County, is accepting online applications from November 1 through November 10, 2012.

June 28, 2012 -- Home Forward and the Housing Authority of Clackamas County (HACC) have reached an agreement to cooperate on an innovative new program that will expand housing options for people in need.  As of July 1, 2012, Section 8 recipients in Clackamas and Multnomah County will be able to use their Section vouchers more easily in both counties, regardless of which jurisdiction administers their housing choice voucher.

June 20, 2012 -- Waiting lists are opening at several Home Forward apartment communities that provide homes for people who need subsidized housing.  Rent for these apartments is income-based.  Residents pay only 27.5 percent of their total income for rent.

Home Forward to Open Select Public Housing Waiting Lists

Eight Public Housing Waiting Lists to Open

November 1, 2011 -- Home Forward is opening waiting lists at eight public housing apartment communities in November.  The first opening is at Madrona Place Apartments in Gresham.  The second opening will be for studio and one-bedroom apartments at seven public housing communities in Portland that are reserved for seniors and persons with disabilities.

Applications for the waiting lists will be available at the individual apartment leasing offices during the dates of the opening and can be downloaded from the Home Forward website during the same timeframes.

August 24, 2011 -- Anita Yap, honored with the 2011 Distinguished Award for Oregon by the American Planning Association, will step into Home Forward's number two management position on August 31. As deputy executive director, she will report to executive director Steve Rudman.  selected for Home Forward's number two management position. Home Forward, the new name for the Housing Authority of Portland, is Oregon's largest provider of affordable housing.

David Kelleher Joins Home Foward Board

David Kelleher Appointed to Home Forward Board

August 24, 2011 -- Business and civic leader David Kelleher has joined the Board of Commissioners at Home Forward. Kelleher, who is a principal and co-founder of ACME Business Consulting, fills a Portland seat on the board and was appointed by the Portland City Council. Home Forward is Oregon's largest affordable housing provider and the new name for the Housing Authority of Portland.

May 23, 2011 -- Home Forward, the new name for the Housing Authority of Portland, has been awarded an $18.5 million HOPE VI Revitalization Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to implement a comprehensive redevelopment of the Hillsdale Terrace public housing property located in southwest Portland.
